Time is legendary for commissioning and publishing impactful pictures. In 2013, Pollack and her team reached out to the most important historians and curators in the world to create a list of the 100 most influential photos of all time. In an era when the daily profusion of new images is overwhelming, Pollack wanted to collect images that had defined and changed the world. It was a three-year process that culminated in an award-winning website, 20 short documentaries, a book, and a special issue of the magazine.
In the summer of 2016, when Hillary Clinton became the first female major-party nominee for President, Pollack was inspired to create a multimedia project highlighting women who broke barriers in a variety of fields. She and her team created a list of 46 pioneering athletes, scientists, lawmakers, entertainers and entrepreneurs, and she assigned Luisa Dörr, a young Brazilian photographer she had discovered on Instagram, to photograph the trailblazing women over the course of a year. Dörr exclusively used her iPhone camera.

Time's project commemorating the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks produced much more than a magazine issue. Pollack saw it as an opportunity to reach Time's audience through every medium possible rather than simply replicating the same work on different platforms.
